Ceylon spinach (Basella malabar ‘Rubra’ Malabar)

Vigorous growing vine with stems and leafstalks dark red with brown tones. Fleshy, oval to lance-shaped leaves. Urn or pitcher shaped, fleshy reddish flowers in spikes. Can be eaten as a spinach substitute or used as a potherb.

From Africa and southeast Asia.

Robust-grows 20 feet tall.
