c. 1910s-1920s; The Buckeye Incubator Co. - Springfield, Ohio

Early wooden egg incubator featuring a paneled exterior with vertical beadboard top, original "Buckeye" decal, and a glass viewing window set into the drop-down front door. The right side houses dual tin reservoirs with branching pipes used for air and moisture regulation-an essential system for maintaining temperature and humidity before the advent of electric thermostats. A porcelain pull knob, brass latches, and dovetailed joinery complete the construction. This No. 144 model embodies the ingenuity of early 20th-century agricultural engineering when small-scale poultry raising began transitioning toward mechanization.

Founded in the late 19th century, the Buckeye Incubator Company of Springfield, Ohio became one of the nation's foremost makers of poultry brooders and incubators, known for their patented ventilation and self-regulating temperature systems that revolutionized farm productivity.

Shows age-typical wear including oxidation to metal components, surface scratches, and finish loss to the wood body. Hardware remains intact and stable with a deep, authentic patina throughout.
